Background and Experience:

Joelle’s desire to help people live healthy, full, and authentic lives has guided her academic and professional journey. While gaining experience at a local hospital to prepare for a career in medicine, she realized that people often received care for physical ailments while their greatest psychological and emotional needs went unmet. This pivotal experience led her to the field of counseling.

As part of her clinical training, Joelle completed a year-long practicum at NUhope Community Counseling Center, providing affordable therapy to children, adolescents, adults, and families. She is a member of the American Psychological Association and is a Licensed Psychological Associate.

Special Interests and Services:

Joelle enjoys creating a warm, empathic, and nonjudgmental space for her clients. She seeks to understand each client’s unique experiences and meets each person exactly where they are. She emphasizes building a collaborative, strong, and authentic therapeutic relationship.

Joelle integrates various counseling modalities into her practice, utilizing Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Internal Family Systems Therapy (IFS) as appropriate. However, more important than an approach, Joelle believes that each person is unique. Therefore, she adopts a holistic view that considers the biological, psychological, social, and spiritual factors that inform the best way to serve her clients. Her hope is that each client makes progress towards their goals and experiences meaningful growth.

Outside of her academic and clinical work, Joelle enjoys spending quality time with family and friends. She loves being outdoors in the sun, exercising, and reading.
