Education and Training:

Doctor of Psychology from Northwest University

Masters of Arts in Counseling Psychology from Northwest University

Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Washington

Background and Experience:

Prior to her graduate experience Steph worked with non-profit organizations that served survivors of sex trafficking. It was there that she saw the great need for trauma-informed care for those who have experienced sexual trauma. Her research and clinical focus has been shaped by these experiences.

Steph has received a wide range of clinical training throughout her education. She has completed clinical internships working as a therapist in community mental health, private practice, and at Central Washington University student counseling center. She has also trained in providing cognitive, psychological, and academic assessments for children, adolescents, and young adults.

Special Interests and Services:

Steph takes an integrative approach to therapy that pulls from person-centered, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), emotionally-focused therapy (EFT) and attachment science. She pulls from multiple different evidenced-based practices to best suit each individual client. She is especially passionate about attachment science and the impact that our early relationships can have on the rest of our lives. She believes that relationships are a key function to the development of a healthy person. There are experiences we have throughout life that impact the way that we engage in relationships and that can create challenges. It is her desire to use the therapeutic relationship to explore problems in relating to others and the world, empathize with the painful parts, and helping find solutions.

Steph believes that every client has complex underpinnings to who they are as an individual. Part of therapy is recognizing that there is pain, discrimination, anger, and fear that comes from their unique culture and identity. Steph is mindful of this as she works with clients and hears their story.

Steph is passionate about helping clients further understand their values and identity. Some of her focus areas are OCD, trauma recovery, interpersonal conflicts, faith and spiritual conflicts, problematic sexual behaviors, anxiety and depression. In her spare time she enjoys spending time with her husband and young daughter, road cycling and mountain biking, camping, bonfires, and watching a good movie.
