Kristin conducted her clinical training in Seattle, in a private practice setting that served individuals from diverse backgrounds, and focused her capstone project on effective cognitive-behavioral strategies for asylum seekers coming from collectivist societies.

Background and Experience:

In Kristin’s previous life she worked in the field of international development, furthering the missions of organizations who work for women, children, and the arts, in several countries in central Asia and the Middle East. During this time, she had the privilege to be a student of culture and religion, their extraordinary diversity, and the ways that these can shape our inner world and influence our strength and resilience.

As a counselor, Kristin continues to respect the ways that culture and values are foundational for each individual.  She takes a trauma-informed perspective on client care, working with difficult aspects of a client’s life story and memories while maintaining a deep respect for their unique strengths and innate gifts.  She uses a variety of different methods including CBT, Narrative, Internal Family Systems and EMDR to help the client move toward their goals.  Kristin believes in the natural wisdom of our human emotions, and that change can come from the inside out.

Special Interests and Services:

At Avanti, Kristin is enthusiastic about working with young adults and adolescents, particularly young people who are going through major life transitions, those experiencing anxiety and depression, or who have been diagnosed with ADHD.  She is also interested in youth who have been identified as both highly capable and neurodivergent.

When she is not sitting with clients, she is mostly looking after her two energetic children, and doing mom stuff.   She also enjoys cooking, designing and sewing clothes, knitting and crochet, beadwork, doing yoga, and working in the garden.  And she is dreaming of traveling!
