Background and Experience:

Tessa’s passion for understanding others and creating spaces where individuals feel seen and heard has guided her academic and professional journey. While completing her undergraduate degree, she served as a psychology intern in Cape Town, South Africa, where she provided supportive counseling services to young children and women who had experienced trauma. She also interned at a private psychiatric hospital in Southern California, where she conducted biopsychosocial evaluations and facilitated art therapy sessions with a diverse patient population.

As part of her clinical training, Tessa completed a year-long practicum at NUhope Community Counseling Center, where she provided affordable therapy to children, adolescents, adults, and couples. She is a member of the American Psychological Association and holds a Mental Health Counselor Associate License.

Special Interests and Services:

Tessa strives to create a warm, empathetic, and nonjudgmental space for her clients. She takes a holistic approach to therapy, seeking to understand her clients' unique experiences. She emphasizes building a strong and authentic therapeutic relationship and works collaboratively with clients to support their growth and healing.

Tessa integrates various counseling modalities into her practice, with a particular interest in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Person-Centered Therapy, Existential Therapy, Logotherapy, and the Gottman Method (Level I and II certified).

Outside of her academic and clinical work, Tessa enjoys spending quality time with family and friends. She loves traveling to sunny destinations, going on long walks, biking, and watching movies.
